Space City celebrate 25th anniversary

TV PRODUCTION Giants Space City are celebrating their 25th anniversary this week having assisted hundreds of companies towards growth in that time.

The Local London company has produced television adverts for businesses nationwide, propelling major brands like Moonpig, GoCompare and VillaPlus to national fame.

After completing the purchase of a former green grocers back in 1992, the UK’s number one provider of TV commercials began its journey towards leading the creative field with the production of advert accompanying jingles.

Prior to the current millennium the first ad was produced for The Naughty Joke Line, followed by a consistent flurry of successful pieces that continue to the present day.

Creative Director and founder of Space City, Victor Van Amerongen was delighted with the longevity of the company and success it has enjoyed, he enthused: “It has been an exciting period in advertising history.

“When we started satellite TV was in its infancy and there were just a handful of channels.

“Direct Response was making its first inroads from America, and of course the internet was unknown.

“Since then we have produced thousands of TV commercials for companies of every size, some well-known names and some less so.”

The former BBC producer was keen to stress the strides the company has taken to speed up the process of putting adverts on TV, as well as the great pride in witnessing projects’ flourish, he mused: “I am particularly proud of the fact that we made the first ever TV commercials for companies that have gone on to world domination.

“These include Go Compare, Moonpig, National Accident Helpline and Confused.com.

“We have also gone from a world where we had to traipse into Soho every time we needed to change a caption to having everything here on site, all creating images in glorious 4K resolution.

“I hope the next 25 years will be as exciting.”

Having specialised in direct response, brand response and sponsorship bumpers for businesses large and small, Space City have delivered sales increases of as much as 600% in the wake of one of their commercials.

Recently the Blythe Road business installed state-of-the-art Davinci Grading software within their premises, ensuring that production costs have been reduced and quality enhanced, saving their client’s money.
